The annual Face Gems Festival is fast approaching and I can’t wait to get creative! This unique event celebrates self-expression through the art of temporary face jewelry. People from all over come together to share their designs and get inspired by one another.
Last year was my first time attending and I was blown away by all the face gems I saw. Everyone had their own unique style whether it was delicate floral designs or bold geometric patterns. My favorite look was a glittery star constellation that wrapped around someone’s eye. It must have taken forever to apply but it was so cool!
Getting Crafty
This year I’m planning to get even more hands-on at the festival. They always have DIY workshops where you can learn new techniques. I signed up for a class on 3D gem appliqué sculptures – we’ll be using tiny crystals to build mini sculptures that stick to your face. It sounds tricky but super fun. There’s also face painting classes if you want a more colorful look.
No Face Gems Festival is complete without checking out the vendor market. You can find indie designers selling their original creations. I’m hoping to pick up some holographic stickers and neon pearls to play around with. Wandering around seeing all the wild and wonderful face gems is so inspiring. You always leave with new ideas for your next look.
Whether you’re an artist showing off your work or just wanting to appreciate creativity, the Face Gems Festival is such a feel-good event. Everyone is so supportive of each other’s designs. I can’t wait to get all dolled up and see what this year brings!
